[Pro] Alphabetize text list

Is there a way to keep a text list alphabetized in FW pro?

I’d like to keep everything alphabetized as I add items to the ongoing list.

Thanks

You might want to take a look at this : http://cssway.thebigerns.com/legacy/sortables/

This is where I learned it from, I’ve used it here: http://www.valveco.com/the.valve.company/products/jis+din/globe_valves.html

If what you really want to do is create a sortable table - as Richard has suggested - then there is an Action for that TableKit - ActionsForge

However I suspect that is not really what you are trying to achieve.

So if you can clarify then we can suggest more options (if there are any)

It’s embarrassing how many simple, nearly ubiquitous text tools are missing
from Freeway Pro. I think it has something to do with the way they make it.

You can use a third party text-app with sorting features to create your
list items first, then copy and paste the sorted results back into FWP.
This is what I do.

I use a free Services Menu tool from these folk -
http://www.devontechnologies.com/download/products.html - from within a
text-only editor like TextMate… Freeway doesn’t allow access to the
Application menu Services submenu, and TextMate’s pure text handling is
less likely to introduce rogue styles when pasted. When my text is ready, I
select and copy it from TextMate, switch to FWP and then select the text to
overwrite. Using either the paste command or the Paste and Replace command
(command-option-shift-v), job is finished.

Best of luck,

Thanks for everyone’s help.

This is such a basic everyday task that is missing in Freeway pro.

I want to keep a list of links alphabetized as I add new ones. I downloaded Devon’s Service menu and it works in other text editors but not in Freeway pro.

Ernie did suggest that you use it within a standalone Editor like Textmate and copy/paste.

That’s right. It is a bit of a two-step hassle, but eminently do-able as
they say. TextMate is a nice text-editor, better than the system TextEdit,
which was my previous favorite (it’s too “rtf” for me these days). And the
price is right.

The problem with doing it with a text editor is when I copy and paste, every links has to be relinked each time.

I’ve only been able to copy and paste text into FW, not text with hyperlinks.
