I have found GitHub - fricca/smooth-scroll-to-top-with-transition: Uses CSS transitions to smoothly scroll to top of document. https://github.com/fricca/smooth-scroll-to-top-with-transition when talking to Thomas.
It looks pretty similar and there are some options. I will try this out in the next couple of days.
