[Pro] Archiving

Why wouldn’t one just make a duplicate of the website files/folder in question?

I do that all the time to start new sites or to work on a existing one.

I am trying to stick with Freeway as I’ve tried Rapidweaver and find it to be difficult to use. I want to convert my sites to be responsive and I wanted to practice on them first so as to not mess up the existing site by working on a new file. It seemed like making an archive and using that to play with would work but now when I try to archive my sites I get an empty archive folder as well as new media and site folders created. What’s wrong? It used to work properly. What’s the best way to do this? Thanks so much for any help.
