[Pro] Background Grcs assigned to html layers

Is there a a way to set their quality. I know I can export a png from PS and force it that way.

But if a set it to a PSD file, is there a way I can change the rather poor default quality.

I am going to say that I do not think so. At least I had never seen the options to in the inspector so you are probably better off with the Photoshop export.

Might be an interesting feature request though.

I think it is best that BG graphics are set at their intended quality in PS or similar as FW doesn’t process these files apart from converting to a web ready format.

Are you sure about that? I know that when I first started using FW it wouldn’t allow you to select non-web standard images for various background images but that has clearly changed in recent versions (not sure just when).

There is obviously some code that was added, most likely QuickTime API calls, that are clearly converting PSD’s set as background images to jpegs.

It wouldn’t need to be anything that fancy, Freeway’s own graphics
engine has been able to do PSD files (layered, with full transparency)
since FW2 or 3. I believe it is probably tuned toward the lower end of
the “quality” scale, since backgrounds usually have something over
them, so detail is actually a bad thing. It is a pain that you can’t
adjust this, although that’s what Save for Web is for in Photoshop.
