[Pro] Best FW Practice suggestion needed (.pdf)

Hi,

Does anyone have a suggestion?

I have about 10 (future many more) .pdf item for my students.

I am not sure how to display them. The kids benefit by seeing a glance of them before opening them. The names alone don;t work so well.

One idea I had was to

  1. have a small caption and its name and when they mouse over they see a larger version? Then they click on smaller one? to open huge to print?

Does this sound possible or anyone else have any better ideas or improvements?

Thanks,

Barry

I guess I also would like to know if there is an easy way to make a THUMBAIL of a pdf in Freeway so my viewers can see the .pdf before opening it.

In the past I used to have to make a picture of the 1st page to use a graphic, that was very time consuming.

Thanks!!

You can treat a pdf like any image ie import it into a graphic box and scale its view to create your thumbnail.

Dave,
i thought of this,

but something weird happens…

When I import the .pdf into the graphic box it has a see through background.

I can see the black behind it and the .pdf is not too clear becuase of this.

It will of course depend on the content of the ‘cover’ of your PDF. You can also colour the background to the graphic box to help.

It will work best on PDFs that have an image on the ‘cover’.

If it is you who are creating the PDFs in the first place then if you bear that in mind at the time…

Hey Dave,

I did color the background white to help. Most of them are .pdf of things that do not have strong pictures on the cover but more .pdf of word documents so they are just white background and black or colored text.

For example, the kids use a “How Am I Doing Form,” which they print, fill out and drop off (maybe I should now do a .php form now that I think of it),and this simple word document comes through see-through.

Have you ever seen it do this?

just confirming too that the .zip got through to you?

If they are pdfs of docs you have created then make a new first page with big text of what you want to appear.
