[Pro] Best slide show

I know yet another slide show question … I have made a few for myself in the past but having reread a few threads there seems to be a whole number of ways of achieving much the same thing so could someone point me in the right direction please, I’d like a show of about 50 images, they will be quite small (120 ppi across) but triangular in shape and they must fit in a triangular “frame” on the home page so do I need to make them with an alpha channel and have them as pngs in Fway - this, I guess will make them pretty big … I have Flash and After Effects so I could make a flash sequence or an flv, or should I try and use a Fway action of some sort to keep file size and speed of loading as good as I can get it (it will be the home page and I really don’t want people to hang around. Any advice very welcome. Regards Roger

Sorry to bump this but can anyone offer some advice (in my efforts to give all of the information I’ve probably made the question too complicated) ! Best Roger

Actually this says it really, I’ve knocked this up quickly using ‘Sequence Timer’ - it loads a little slowly so I was wondering if there was a better (faster) way of creating something similar … many thanks Roger

Hi Roger,

It loads fine for me here. The only other Action that I can suggest is
the Fading Slideshow action by Weaver:

Anything else is going to need to be handcoded or something very
specific (and costly) such as Slideshow Pro, or Lightroom.

Hi Roger,

is the slideshow you created at - stillsfordesigners - the actual size it will be ?

I have created a quick version for you here using an animated gif file, not really a slideshow but created in photoshop and imageready

it only has 5 images but the file size at the moment is only 54kb, might be an alternative method to produce it, only took me twenty mins and it is very configurable in terms of adding or removing frames and of course the timing is easy to control

just a thought

Hi Gary, thanks for that, yes I think the physical size is OK … it’s kind of like an animated logo that will be stuck up there in the corner and your suggestion was what I was, clumsily, asking in the OP, ie that there are several ways to skin a cat (what an unpleasant expression) ! - … so my original file sizes are pretty big, I’m working with s/s psds which I understand Fway automatically converts to jpegs, I’m not sure how you can check the sizes of those converted files but in the page panel that page is: 132,099 which i guess is kb which, again, is big compared to your version, I haven’t used imageready before but I cannot imagine this would be too difficult for me to achieve, I’ll check it out. Hi Roger,

If it would help I could write a quick method and put it and the files I used online for you to download later as a guide, let me know

That’s so good of you Gary but I think I’ve done it OK, maybe you’d be kind enough to check it out … same address. Roger
