[Pro] Best way to set up Master Pages

I’m setting up my first master pages in Freeway and was wondering what was the best way to set them.

For example, let’s say I have a Master page with a header and a designated content block below it. Now let’s say I’ve created hundreds of pages of content off this Master page, but now I’ve decided I want to put an item directly below the header on all the pages.

Hence the individual content blocks of each of those hundreds of pages would now need to be pushed down to accommodate space for the new item.

Would I have to go and edit all these pages?

What is the best way to set this up?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

but now I’ve decided I want to put an item directly below the header on all the pages.

If this new item is for all pages, then you can have it in your original Master.

If, however, it is not for all pages, then you have to use a Master2 page,

so you’ll have two Masters!

and remember, you can just inherit the structure, not the content from your Master.

I should clarify further…

I have a designated content item on my master page.

But when I resize this content item on a page to allow for the proper height of text, that content block becomes disassociated from the master page.

And every page will have a different amount of text.

I guess my ultimate question is can I make an item, such as a text area have a fluid height without breaking it’s link to the master page?

Thanks

Peter
