My favorites

Pulse - http://pulsecms.com - super easy

Perch - https://grabaperch.com - A bit more work setting it up than Pulse.

I’m a fan (and user/beta tester) of Perch and second Marcel’s recommendation, but as he alluded to it is more code-centric than many other light-to medium-weight CMS. It’s a wonderful tool but it’s definitely not point-n-click. If dead-simple is what you want then stick with Pulse.

Many to choose from but having battled with Perch (principally as I’m a non coder) I would now go with Pulse every time. The BIG advantage with Pulse is that it comes pre styled. If you wish to change the look then yes by all means delve in but first up you have something to work with that looks good. So your blog (its a simple blog; no tags etc.) is styled, your gallery is styled, events calendar styled, etc. Its by far the easiest to implement. Perch doesn’t even come first up with a client friendly text editor, easy to change of course but sort of indicates an odd attitude imho.
If knowledgeable then Perch I’m sure can give more and deeper options and I’ve seen great sites that have used it.

And don’t forget WebYep. Lots of info on FWt.

Or, I came across this the other evening: http://get-simple.info/ no idea what its like but might suit your needs.

I tried Get Simple a back in version 1 and although I liked the CMS I found it hard work getting a Freeway layout into a workable theme. I’m hoping things have improved in that area because it looked like it had a lot of potential.

Tim.

That’s interesting Tim. To be honest I didn’t study it too much.

Version 3 now so things might have opened the FW/get simple cms possibilities. Some of the ‘themes’ look not that bad.

There’s certainly plenty of cms options out there now.

The best CMS for me is Joomla. I use “Joomla actions” in Freeway Pro Joomla Actions
