[Pro] Blind Down not displaying in Internet Explorer

Ah, everyone’s favorite, IE. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m trying to apply an accordion-like BlindDown effect using the TransitionFX Action for an image gallery. It works pretty much exactly as I’d like under all browsers except IE, in which it only shows until the first line where things are supposed to blind down and then nothing.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong or how I might be able to coax IE into displaying properly? I noticed that the BlindDown example on Softpress’ site works just fine, could it be that I’m mucking things up by trying to embed a flash album in there?

Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi Scott

I am not sure about your Blind down problem with IE but what I will say that this method provides one hefty page at over 12Mb - I am not surprised that IE keels over and dies.

You could create a similar effect by having the main gallery pic in your blind down effect linking to the gallery itself in a pop up window. Then your visitors wouldn’t have to bear the whole weight of the page.

Ah, I see. Is it pre-loading all those albums when the page loads then? I was playing with this design idea while under the impression that those embedded flash elements wouldn’t actually load until the BlindDown revealed them. (those are separately generated pages that are all inserted as markup items by the way, not sure if that helps at all)

If that’s not the case, the it’s back to the ol’ drawing board. :stuck_out_tongue:

Unless you use some sort of “lazy loading” system, everything on the page – visible or not – will load (eventually).

Wonderful, this has been incredibly helpful. Sad I have a bit more work of redesign ahead of me, but glad I have a better handle on what’s going on now.

David and Walter, thanks a ton!
