[Pro] Blogger action nightmare

Thanks Caleb, I’ll give it a go later this week and let you know if it works. I’m out and about for a few days now…,

Cheers,

Hi Caleb,

the site is up and the blog is working, except for one small problem. The background of the site is black so I have selected white text for the blog and comments content and purple for the links. However, the comments section is refusing to do this and is staying with the default black text and blue links colours. I have re-done the section in freeway and re-uploaded and re pasted the html code to blogger but it just won’t work.

Any clue or help as to why much appreciated. My only option seems to be to change the page background to white, but this won’t look right.

here is a link to the page, so you can see the problem:

Many thanks in advance,
Neil

Neil,

Glad to help. For some reason, it doesn’t seem that FW is targeting the right selector. At any rate, here’s the fix:

  1. Open up the style dialog.
  2. Create a new style. In the tag field, enter .comments-content (with the period at the beginning). Tab out of it so the name field remains empty.
  3. Under “Character”, set the color to white.
  4. Republish and copy the new code over to Blogger.

Cheers!

Hi Caleb,

thanks for getting back to me. I have created a new style and I cut and pasted your fix into the tag field, but it didn’t work. It has now made the links on the comment ID’s go the correct colour of purple, but the text is still black so can’t be read !

Maybe I will have to make the page white after all and lose the design element.

Any other thoughts ?

cheers, Neil

Hi all,
having problems again with uploading a blog to blogger.
when I paste the code into the blogger edit template all the colours on my webpage navigation buttons change colour to blue and the font changes. It also isn’t desplaying the picture across the top of the page I’ve built in Freeway.
I’ve upgraded my Freeway 6 pro to 6.12 which should have fixed this problem.
The softpress knowledge base talks about reverting to the old blogger interface but htis is no longer an option on blogger or clicking on the upgrade your template button to force blogger to the use the latest template, this option is also no longer available. Seems Softpress Knowledge base is not up to date with blogger.
Any clue as to what I can do to resolve this, it is really annoying !

Cheers, Neil

Neil,

I tried for days to do what you are trying doing and ended up using their
template and just replaced the elements that I could. I used Photoshop to
create the background color, and none of the banners or photos would upload,
they all came in with broken icons. The info that we both read about just
pasting your code in doesn’t work, I’m sorry to say. I think Google is
restricting it by there template format. I am using pro7 and had the same
problems. I ended finding a template close to what I wanted and ended up
import the banners, photos and icons in their widgets to do this. I assume
your using the Google side. I have noticed my grandson who is still in
Blogger has the ability to revert to what you are wanting to doing, while my
wife went to Google Blogger and that option has disappeared in her account.
I was trying to load a page that look like her web site (with banners,
colors, fonts and icon she wanted) and it just wouldn’t work. I spent hours
looking, checking and revising code but nothing worked in the end. I gave up
it’s not what I wanted for her but it is better than what I was getting from
pasting in code.

Maybe someone knows a work around but I tried with Google help to get this
to work and while many said it would it never happened. Like you color
shifts and missing parts was always the problems.

I’m sure Blogger did fine in the deal but it left a lot like us screwed if
we want something a little different.

Hello,
OK got the blog almost looking correct. Had to rebuild an old version of the website in FW 5.5, the blog page I built in that version works when the code is posted into blogger.
One small problem is that blogger is showing a load of code just above the blog, which looks like the code of the computer the blog is posted from. Very odd ! And also the srewdriver and spanner icons for the settings of the ‘About Us’ and ‘Blog Archive’ sections of the blog template.

Anyone any ideas as to a way to fix thiese problems and hide the code and the icons ?
Thanks in advance,
Neil

My last posting hasn’t gone up ?
I’ll start again…
I’ve managed to get the blog template to almost work
http://blackpotdiaries.blogspot.co.uk/
I rebuilt it in FW 5.5 in the last version of the website where it was working.
Only problem now is the code visible just above the content of the blog posted and the fact that the spanner and screwdriver icons for the settings of the ‘About Us’ and "Blog Archive’ sections of the blog page.
Anyone got a way to hide these, they aren’t visible on the other blog page I built in a similar way

Thanks in advance,

If I am guessing correctly the screwdriver and spanner icons should also appear after each post. They are just shortcuts for you to go in and edit the contents/settings and are there because blogger recognises you are logged in. If you log out of blogger or view the blog through another browser these should disappear and won’t be visible to the ‘general public’ anyway.

Did you post your content by copying and pasting from Microsoft Word? You really should only paste plain text into blogger as hidden characters/attributes can screw things up. Alternatively select all of your text in the blogger post window and then click on the ‘Tx’ icon in the blogger bar to remove all styling from your text. You will then need to go through and adjust some of the spacing but it may hopefully get rid of the extra bits at the start.

All the best

Gordon

Thanks Gordon, I didn’t actually post the content my client did from another computer. So I will check how she put that in. That could well be the solution, she did probably write it in Word and cut and paste.
Thanks again,
