[Pro] Bookmark dilemma

I’m a newbie to web design but after a couple grueling days, I finally have the beginnings of a website uploaded, however, when I bookmark the site, it books it as index.html not "url Domain Names - Register Domains with Name.com - Buy a Domain Name. Does anyone know what I’ve done wrong?

Hi Louise

Always helps if you can post a link to a problem page but in this instance it simply sounds like you have not given a proper name to your page.

Look in the inspector - with nothing selected on the page - The first Tab (General Page Settings) looks like a page with corner turned over.

The first 2 boxes are Title and File - you probably have the default of index.html in both of those. Change the top one to something meaningful like: The Home page of Louise Ann Donahue - then hit Enter.

Check that the second box hasn’t changed to thehomepage.html. If it has then change it back to index.html (it shouldn’t if it was the first page you created), but subsequent pages you create take their file name from the title.

Re-upload and see what you get when you try and bookmark now. In Safari you should get whatever you put in the Title box.

You are absolutely right, thank you David. I actually figured it out myself, I’m just getting used to the FW interface, besides not really being html savvy. I’ll probably be asking more questions to which the answers are perfectly obvious but I really appreciate the back-up support. I hope I can answer questions someday and return the favor!
