[Pro] can this be done?

Hi all,

Just wondering… I am sending out bills via email and I am trying to confirm if they got and read the bill I sent by email.

I have added a line at the bottom that says “please reply that you got this.”

Is there a way I can do what I see sometimes, where at the bottom of the email I can put a link and when they click it, it sends me notification that they got it? I am not looking to have them go to a webpage and then do something, just the click of the link is all they would do.

If not, I will just try my “hit reply” method" for February.

Thanks,

Barry

You may want to sign up for a free account at MailChimp, and see if their tools would be useful for this purpose. Although they are designed more for sending out thousands of “spam” messages, they do include beacon images in their templates that tell their servers whether the message was opened or not. It’s not 100% foolproof (I have my Mail.app set to ignore these images) but most people won’t have that understanding of what’s going on, so you’ll know if they opened it or not.

This method isn’t going to cut it anyway.

People don’t like to acknowledge they have received a bill - that is why so many bills through the mail are left unopened until absolutely necessary.

I would second Walter’s suggestion to use a service that tracks.

Alternatively give them a link to an online payment method offering them a discount for early settlement. You can do it through your Paypal account.

Hi Dave,

I actually gave them that option since I have Paypal already set up and ready thru Hoffkids, and all people chose to add me as a payee with their bank instead and pay like they pay their electric bill etc.

And for those that do use Paypal in the future to pay me, I would not be giving them a discount but adding the 3% on top that I have to pay Paypal .

Yes but the secret to all these charges is to add it on before you discount it.

While I appreciate that your fees are probably set you have to plan ahead with the assumption that offering a discount should encourage early settlement.
