[Pro] cant manage with html text

Hello. Im completely stopped in a silly thing: I cant use html text with good results. If I use the text as a graphic element it works, but I want html text wich could be copied/pasted.

I think is because of the order of elements I use. For example:

a. I draw an html item. Inside the html item, I draw graphic items for anything (images, jpg, gif, text…) I want to superpose others. And as html item if a want to put a text that could be copied/paste. This html item can’t be over any other item, because it get a white background, and dont let see items below.

b. I tried everything exposed in a. but without the html container. It is the same, no difference.

c. Ive opened templates to see how they are done, and its the same I use, an html container, images as graphic items and text as html items, but all of them appear in the inspector as layer, with green line ouside them, but in the tutorial came with the program they dont use this thing.

In the manual it speaks about working with different items, but nothing about what is the best way or the most recommended.

Another thing i dont understand is that i have the css button off, but in the code lots os styles appears everywhere…

Can anyone give me a hint to continue improving, please?

That’s the reason text has a white background. You must must use layers (CSS) in order to have transparent backgrounds.

but in tutorials, or when its explain how to create an email (the things Ive done since the program came a couple of days ago) they say “Be sure CSS button is OFF”. So, what is that for?

The CSS Layout button toggles to Table Layout when it’s off. In CSS
Layout mode, every element you draw on the page is absolutely
positioned using CSS. When it’s in table layout mode, every element
you draw on the page is held in place using an invisible table
structure reinforced with transparent GIF spacers.

Table layouts are frowned on on the Web, but they reign supreme in e-
mail. The reason is that Microsoft has decided (for security reasons,
naturally) to use the HTML layout engine from Microsoft Word (circa
1997) rather than the one from IE, when rendering HTML mail.

Now my own thoughts on HTML mail are considered and well known:

But if you’re going to create it anyway, you have to dance with the
300 lb gorilla.

Thanks for the explanation. I always make flash websites, and I didnt use html from long long time ago, and Im completely in blank about css. Besides, my english is not so good, so, what you tried to say me is:

  • use css button off to make emails (table layout)

  • use css button on to make website (css layout), with the items set a layer in the inspector

  • mail should use css, instead of layout table, but its a problem with microsoft, who make what it completely want with asking anybody…

  • go to the zoo to dance with some kind of a gorilla???

.-)

thats it?

Yes. The gorilla is Microsoft. A “300 pound gorilla” is an idiom for
any competitor or other company in a market that is so large that
whatever they do becomes the “law”. Paul Simon put it very nicely in
his song “I know what I know” from Graceland: “…who am I to blow
against the wind?” Something like that.
