[Pro] Can't Stop .style1. .style 2...

Freeway will respect styling when pasting text (as much as it can). To stop this from happening, use the standard OS X shortcut for pasting without styling (or more accurately, match existing styling), Command-Option-Shift-V.

Thanks you Joe, but this doesn’t address the style creation when replacing a selection from the keyboard. I have put an example for you to take a little look-see at:

Hard to believe I am the only one that is driven nuts by this.

Oh, no. You’re not alone! I have a thread on here somewhere about that and even mentioned it in this thread a ways up.

If you don’t watch your style palette, then you don’t even realize this is happening until you have dozens of them which are hard to get rid of.

Hi Guys,

The video does help, thanks - but I’m afraid I can’t explain (right now) why that happens. I can see why it would be annoying though, yes.

As I mentioned previously, this subject has been discussed at Softpress Towers - we’re always thinking of possible ways to improve things and as always, all suggestions, comments, complaints are welcome. Without them the software doesn’t grow into something you want, it grows into something we think you want.

Good video example, and thank you for that. Now I understand why sometimes my best efforts to “do the right thing” with setting up styles defeats me, anyway.

And Joe, I know you good people at Softpress will eventually sort this out. Sometimes it takes a while, but you usually come through.

Of course I can’t say for sure, but I suspect the Mystery Temp Styles from Typing have something to do with MTS in general.

The only way I can get MTSfT to occur is to have previously applied some style that includes character styling.

Maybe I’m just riding a hobby horse.

More to this Joe… is there a suggestion box somewhere on the SoftPress site? I ask as my second biggest time waster in FW is the temperamental copy/paste mechanism in FW’s modal dialogs; most often with form data params. I know the clipboard is a complicated thing but this ‘should’ be a simple process and it often times simply does not work.

Perhaps a menu item to import form data to the current page from another?

Don’t want to thread jack so where is the best place to post these ‘suggestions’?

Thanks… but pretty sure I already did back in the 5.0.x days.

I was going to say that it’s something that we already have logged. It was more a general “this is where anyone can log things or contact us”.

I’m using File Buddy to search my HTML files for instances of unwanted temp styles. I can then go back to my FW document and remove their occurences, and eventually delete them from the Style Editor’s list.

And now that I know why most of them are created, and to watch for their creation, no more of’em!

Here’s a slight rub. The editing went well, except in the instance of two styles that were applied to graphic text. I didn’t find them applied to any text in my HTML, and so deleted them. Oops! Luckily I noticed the graphic text had changed, so I reformatted the text, which recreated the styles as Temporary. I named them according to their use, and made them permanent.

Doing this dirtied every page in my FW document! I assume because, being permanent, they are now going to be written into my page-by-page CSS declarations? No really big deal, just unnecessary.

Guess I really should dig into external style sheets!

Just come across this thread and wanted to say that I’m glad it’s not just me! Styles in Freeway are my number one frustration.
