[Pro] Can't unlock page text boxes

Hi,

I had my master page text boxes locked, the box which has all my heading in it e.g… home, about us, contact us etc. in it, my view shopping cart box and my bug boots logo box.

I went into the inspector and unchecked the lock button which I thought would unlock the text area so I can update/make changes.

I no longer have the red lock around the box, however I cannot access the words home, about us, contact us etc. to make a change. I now get a white lock shape preventing me from doing anything on the page.

I have checked the reference manual but can’t find any help in there. Not much luck on google either.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Kasia

Can you let us see a screenshot of that? New one on me.

The Lock part is really to stop you accidentally moving the item - you still should be able to edit its contents.

1st thing I would do is a restart of FW - if that doesn’t do it then a restart of my Mac as well.

If still no go then quit FW, Trash your FW preferences file and restart FW.

Ah David, I’ve missed you. It’s been almost 2 years since I needed help last (apart from a few days ago when Walter helped me out with transferring my website from desktop to laptop).

I’ll do all those things you suggested and see how I go and report back.

Hi again David,

I couldn’t do a screen shot of the little white lock as it only came up when I put the cursor over the box and disappeared when I moved it somewhere else. I’m not tech savvy enough to now how to do a screen shot without using my mouse to select the screen shot function from the menu.

It doesn’t matter anyway as simplicity won out in the end. Why I didn’t think to do the most obvious thing and re-start freeway and my computer, I don’t know! It fixed the problem.

I’ll blame it on the late night brain, trying to work on something when tired (It’s 2.45am here in AUS).

Thank you for your response David. Yet again, very much appreciated.

Well I hope you have gone to bed now - safe in the knowledge that your text boxes are there for editing tomorrow.

And if it has been that long since you needed FW help then you are doing well - keep it up.
