[Pro] Carosel and IE

I have created this carosel http://elysium.aswebsitedesign.com/phones.html#
As it works fine in everything except IE I need to have something that works in IE so people can still view the items. Does anyone have an idea?

I’m surprised it works in any browser. There are two separate
instances of the link to prototype and scriptaculous in the head of
this page. There should only be one, followed by the link to glider.js.

Make sure you have installed the very latest version of Protaculous in
your copy of Freeway, and then remove all of the instances of
Carousel, Carousel Pane, Carousel Button, tab, etc. from all pages in
this site. Publish once. Then build the effect back up again.

The Carousel Action and the effect it generates is absolutely
compatible with IE all the way back to 6.

Hi Nate,

Nice carousel. Did you get the idea from the Apple store page?

Cheers

Thank you Dave, and yes I did.

How about adding a trigger action like a wiggle or highlight on mouseover to each phone image? That would intuitively make the viewer click on one of the icons (even though it is written in big just underneath the carousel…)
What do you think?

YES I really want to do something like that. I was going to do a highlight on rollover, but if I could do a trigger action like a wiggle that could be better! I am not aware of that action though, what is it called?

Hi Nate,

Hmm, I don’t know another name than wiggle…
How about using the Action named “Coppelia”?

You can find it here: http://www.actionsforge.com/actions/view/104-coppla

I never used it… so I would like to see what you can do with it!
Perhaps Walter might know more about actions that make objects wiggle…

Cheers,
David

Hello David,

That sounds great, but when I click on the demo or I click any of the other links google gives me an error saying it can not find it. So I would love to find another action to use or just find the correct links for that Ceppelia action. What ever I can find would be great though.

Hi Nate,

Actually I just noticed that you can get a wiggle effect with a native action of freeway Pro → Attention Effect
In that action you can choose “On Trigger” and a drop down menu gives you the choices: Shake; Pulsate; Highlight…

See if it fits you…

Cheers
D.

Well that works, yet I was hoping that I could find something that would make the item slightly rotate. I was thinking that would look better.

CSS3 rollovers can do that. There’s an Action in the CSS3 project on
ActionsForge. Note that this, like many other CSS3 effects, is a
progressive enhancement. Anyone stuck with an older browser (or IE)
will not see any effect at all.

Also my carsel is still inactive in IE. I have reaplied all of the carousel actions, with no results. Do you suggest anything else? or will I have to start over on that page.

Have you tried a blank new site yet? Please start with a completely
new Freeway document, and no other Freeway documents open. Build a
basic carousel effect on the one and only page in that site, and test
it on IE. The last time I looked at your code, you had multiple
instances of the link tags in the head of your page, indicating to me
that you either had a broken Freeway install, or a broken Action
install, or a corrupted document (or some combination of the three).
There’s no way to recover from that without testing to see where the
problem lies. If a new blank site demonstrates the same error, then
the issue is with your Freeway install or your Actions folder(s).
Thousands of satisfied users would indicate to me that the Action
itself is not implicated.
