[Pro] Carousel and CSS Menus

Is there a way of using the css menus (those created using the CSS menu action) as the tabs for carousels? It sounds simple but I may be making a rod for my own back.

If not – no problem I will revert back to simple tabs.

Sure. Use the Carousel Text Tab Action to do this. With your text cursor flashing in your CSS Menu list, use the Insert / Action Item / Carousel Text Tab to add a text tab. Use the Actions palette to set the link text and choose the carousel and pane that you want it to link to. That’s all you need to do. If you are using text styling in your CSS Menu, then don’t forget to add a space before and after the inline Action item, so you can apply a style to the space-action-space sandwich.

Hi Walter,

I manages to get the CSS Menu working with the carousel so a big thank you for that, I am having a little trouble without applying my CSS type style. I have tries the sandwich – should the space be either side of the action in the CSS menu, or either side of the target in the carousel action window?

In other words user error, I think I am missing where to add the style.

Otherwise the solution works really well.

Either side of the inline action item in the CSS menu itself.

* [space][Action Item][space]

If you are styling the CSS menu entirely by using the CSS Menu Action and the Link Style segment of the Inspector, then this step is not necessary. You should, in all cases, try to avoid styling the text you place inside the CSS Menu text box, because it leads to code bloat. What I do is draw an HTML box, double-click inside it, and type at least one link. Then I click once on the HTML box, open up the Link Style part of the Inspector, and set up the way I want the links to appear. The rest of the style (background colors, borders, arrows) are all controlled by the CSS Menu Action interface.

Worked a treat, Many thanks. Freeway – why are people so against this type of design for the web? Reminds me of the backlash against Desktop Publishing and macs by the typesetters, only todays typesetters are the coders.
