[Pro] Carousel - Muiltiple Carousels on one page not working

Okay, I have spent a couple of days reading and applying the tips I gleamed from the threads. Much of that time on the “One-Dot-Oh” thread. Walter helped me on my original issue with the carousel not working and that issue was corrected. However, now I am stumped again and I hope someone will be able to direct me.

I am developing a website and I would like to utilize the “Carousel” action through out. My “home” page has a carousel that is working just fine. However, I can’t seem to get the second page to cooperate. Maybe, I am expecting too much.

My goal was to have 20 tabs that would carousel pictures in 20 Carousels (each Carousel would have 6 to 10 images), and there would be “next” and “previous” buttons for each Carousel.

I have redone the Carousels a dozen times or more, using the original instructions and the tips I learned from reading the threads. Every individual item is pointing to its proper point. Tabs to the Carousel, Carousel Panes to the proper Carousel and the buttons are pointing to the proper Carousel.

However, what happens is that the only Carousel that plays is the last one I built. The first two do nothing. I have even used the “Publish Everything” command to make sure all is collected.

The links to the website for anyone who can help are:

http://www.ergopetdiner.com/index (this one is the working one)
http://www.ergopetdiner.com/ncaa (this one is the problem child)

The tabs to check on are the “Gators”, “FL State” and “Bulldogs” tabs (which are the top three tabs on the left). No matter which tab you click on, only the UGA diners work with the buttons. I tried to do it as an “auto-Glide” and it will play all of them and not just the ones assigned to the tab.

Am I expecting to much from the action? If so is there another that will allow this type of action? Would the “NewsCycle” be a better choice?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help.

Unless the individual things you plan to put in these Carousels are incredibly small (in file size), that’s a lot of content for one page. Why not split this across multiple pages, with one carousel per page? Carousel already encourages you to fit more than a page’s-worth in a single page, but taking it this far is going to be a disaster, IMO.

Walt, thanks for the idea. Actually I had in the back of my mind that that might have to be the answer. I was hoping to find away to keep it to two pages for the NCAA, instead of 42 pages.

Do you know why the three carousels I did set up don’t operate independently? In case I find a need to have multiple carousels on one page, be it in limited numbers of two or three.

When you create multiple Carousel groups on one page, you simply have to make sure that the various Target settings are correct in the control buttons. If you have Carousels A, B, and C, then you have to have independent sets of Carousel Buttons (previous/next) for A, B, and C. Each group of Carousel (and its associated Panes) needs its own set of navigation buttons, and they will operate independently, and will only affect the Carousel that is chosen in their Target picker. Note that when you apply the Carousel Button or Carousel Tab Action to a graphic, the Target picker will default to the last Carousel on the page. Even if that’s the one you wanted, it’s always a good idea to at least click on the Target picker and confirm that. There’s a bug in the Freeway/Action interface that surfaces from time to time, and a dynamic picker like this one won’t accept its default value unless you actually touch it.

Walter, Thanks for the advice. I had read your comments on other threads and I verified that each button and tab were directed to its proper target. However, I do believe I choose those target by selecting them from the picker and not by actually clicking on the target first. I’ll give that a try.

Again, thanks.

No, that’s not what I meant. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. The picker in the Action is labeled Target. What I mean when I said click on it was to click on the Target picker in the Actions palette. Until you do, there’s a (slight) chance that the Action interface will say one thing and the Action will hear another when it runs through the publishing cycle.
