Trying to work through several tutorials and
I managed to centre-align text, foto and Exhibeo slideshow in setting up a test-site with FCP7, thanks to excellent instructions/suggestions in this forum.
However I don’t succeed to centre align (using the inflow box as explained by Walter) a video in mp4 h264. It keeps left aligned.
Suggestions are welcome
If you post a link, one or another of us can see it in a browser, fiddle with it in the Safari Web Inspector, and see what moves you need to make to correct the issue.

Thanks Walter,
In suppose this means it should work just like the other items I succeeded in centre aligning.
I will get back after publishing my site to a test account.
Thx
Ben
The movie is wrapped in a P tag, which is not set to center align. If you double-click in the same area as the video, so you get a text cursor, you should be able to set the alignment of that paragraph to center and the video will be centered. Alternatively, if you click once on the video element and choose Item / Extended, and in the
Name: margin
Value: auto
…and okay out of the stack of dialogs, you should get the same effect as the text align trick.
Thanks Walter,
Centre align with the text cursor did it, such a small thing.
I centre aligned already in the dimensions section of the inspector, which worked ok for the other items but not for the video.
Any idea why there is a different behaviour ? I would like to understand.
Anyway I got this working thanks.
Because there is a Paragraph Tag (P) wrapping the Video element so to centre align you need to treat it like text ie select all the ‘text’ and use text alignment.
If you look in your styles palette you will see that you have now applied .style3 to the text
@ DeltaDave:
Thanks,
I am quite a novice in this field (have been working for years with the Express versions). So I do realize that apparently the video is considered as a “text”. However to me this was the only way I could embed the video as an inline element. Direct imports from the video made it a layer. I did not have that problem with for example the exhibeo slideshow.
@ Howard.
You’re (quite) right . I tried to build the foundation to make the site (fully) responsive and fill the browser window completely, before I got there I stumbled into this problem that I liked to sort out first.
By the way on my iPad mini it does resize (almost) neatly. But I need to make some more adjustments, specially to rearrange the movie and slideshow for smartphone sizes. Work in progress
Howard,
Thanks, I just checked that, looks promising indeed, but I understand that there are some problems with FWP7 at this point, so I will wait for an update.
@DeltaDave.
This is all created with FWP7. There is only a Pro version of this release. I switched from FWE6 to FWP7 and thus I am stumbling with some things.
For this test-site I followed the instructions as explained in the Freeway document "extended_reference_For_ FW7 page 4 and further.
I used to just drag-in movies in FCE, that still is possible in FCP7 of course, but the video turns then into a layer which, as I understand the instructions, should be avoided for creating responsive sites. Besides that I got into positioning troubles as wel.
Still learning though
Ben
