I’m having problems getting a clean master copy of my site.
I’m saving a copy to a local folder but some of the graphics, which display OK in freeway, upload only the shadow background to the folder. Also when I rename a graphic file in the inspector and save and upload the page, the new graphics name are not reflected in the images in the Resources folder.
I am also getting the error: “One or more files which do not belong to this site will be overwritten”. I’m saving over and over to the exact same folder so why would anything “not belong to this site”?
why does FW sometimes not allow pasting of text that I’ve copied?
Copied from where? This shouldn’t be an issue but remember that if you copy text from Word or Web Pages etc. then invisible formatting can be brought along for the ride.
It’s possible. Freeway’s clipboard is unusually deep and wide – when it copies something to paste elsewhere within a document, it carries with it a whole tree of object information that goes way beyond the visible. All clipboards are like this on the Mac, just to differing degrees.

I use Copy Paste Pro or clip buddy clipboard managers and FW says “cannot perform because a system error occurred” constantly.
So if I had invisible formatting characters copied, that would cause this error?
I’ve been trying to get my site in sync between my home studio and work via Dropbox. But its been difficult.
The archive that I made has a media folder and an empty site folder so that’s not going to work.
I thought that using Dropbox for my site folder would work but from each location I get a warning that I will be replacing files not present in the server or something like that. It doesn’t seem like they are in sync.

The site folder will only be populated when you Publish or Preview. These files are generated fresh every time and are not necessary to ensure syncing.

It is definitely not your site folder that you want to sync.
Instead sync/share the FW doc and all the Media files that you are using - where your site folder lives is not really relevant as FW will generate any missing files when it Publishes.
The important thing to remember here is that if you add media files when working on another Mac that are not imported from the shared media folder then when the doc is opened on a different Mac these files will be marked as missing.
You will then need to add them to the shared media folder and update their status in the Edit>Resources pane.
So best to keep them in and only work from files in the Media folder. No reason why you cannot create subfolders in the Media folder for images, movies etc
I made an archive version of my site in a folder that has a media folder. Should I add the graphics to the archive media folder before I add them to my pages?
When I try to preview FW gives me that pretty useless error “Could not read graphic because the file format is bad.”
What graphic are you talking about out of the dozens in my site? FW doesn’t specify.

Yes - if you are using the FW file and Media folder in Dropbox.

Do you get this when you try and Preview every page. It would be worth you going to Edit>Resources and make sure that all the Resources have a status of OK. Then use the Resample All button - bottom left.
I’m still trying to figure FW media management out.
I made an Archive of a site and the resulting folder was a Media folder with graphics.
When I’m designing or updating a page with graphics, where should I place new graphics, in the Archive Media folder or the Resources folder that FW makes when you publish?
It seems like the Resources graphics folder is for FW output only. I shouldn’t be placing new graphics in there.
