[Pro] Clear.gif Question

What exactly is the purpose of the clear.gif that is always generated by FW?

I’ve set up an html e-mail for someone and there are no images or art, but the page looks different with it and without it. I didn’t really want to give the client any images, but it seems it needs the clear.gif to look correct, but I have no idea why.

Is there a way to avoid this?

Here it is online with the clear.gif in it.

Clear.gif is typically used as a spacer to reinforce a table layout. I’m not sure, but you could try going into the ‘Document Setup’ and see if the box ‘Reinforce Layout Tables’ is checked. If you delete that then perhaps it will go away, but I haven’t tried that.

I’m confident on what the file does though.

Yah, I figured the safest way to build an html e-mail was a straight table.

I normally don’t have a problem with the clear.gif file, but this being an e-mail, I was trying to have no “extra” files with it.
