I am a new to using RSS… but is it possible for a client to generate the RSS feeds so that they appear within an alloted space within a freeway generated website?
If the feed is in a standard RSS 0.92, RSS 1.0 or RSS 2.0 format, then
you may use my ReadFeed Action to do just this. It’s on ActionsForge.
This will allow you to draw a box on the page, subscribe it to the
feed, and see the result as an HTML list of links.

Apologies for my ignorance, but could you tell me… would the client create the feed using FeedForAll or something similar to create feed and then upload straight to the ftp or would they need to have a page that contains the RSS news stories which they would add to… ?
The feed needs to be publicly available, that’s all how and where it is hosted doesn’t matter. I made this so a client could scrape headlines out of yahoo news and post them on her home page.
I tried this Action and the results are rather exciting. I am going to send you a link to our current site as I am wondering if this and another script will help automate our news pages. Also can this all be formatted to the look and feel like what we currently have?
Your ReadFeed Action seems like it may automate what is going on on our home page but is there an action that will let us write the news articles add photos and then output the RSS page? The Actions I have seen seem to help create an RSS page, which is cool but it seems like I would manually have to set up my news article pages in freeway. Was hoping for the other way around.
If you are trying to create and use the feed in one page, it sounds
like you might do well with a lightweight CMS, like WebYep. If you
also need the feed for other things (not just for making this feature
happen on your page), another approach might be to use my creaky-old
SimpleRSS Action[1]. That will allow you to create an HTML box full of
links and descriptions, convert that to RSS and leave it on the page.
Sort of a short-cut.
Softpress also has an Action for creating RSS feeds[2], but I haven’t
used it. It’s quite a bit newer than mine, and more likely will
produce valid RSS from a wider range of input. (Mine chokes quite
badly on accented characters.)
