[Pro] Colored background with page in the center

Hey, Gang –

I was wondering if anybody knows the best way to create a background where the site kind of floats on top of it.

Here’s an example:

Notice how the site is centered but then floats left or right depending on how you change the size of the screen.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Go to the Page Inspector and set the prefs for:

Align = Center
Background color = your choice

This format is without fancy border effects. I avoid those as they mess up when viewed cross-platform and in different browsers.

The usual technique to create this effect is to make a background graphic, that includes the drop shadows on either side of the “page” area, in Photoshop and apply that graphic to your layout area in Freeway. The rest of the background is a solid color behind that graphic applied to page background.

The background graphic you create in Photoshop does not have to be more than say 30 pixels tall, but it should be wide enough to cover your entire layout side to side. Then when you apply background image set it to tile vertically and it will extend the entire length of your page.
