Hello all,

I have been asked to set up a web site for someone creating their own podcasts. I agreed to do it but I am now having second thoughts as I have discovered that there will be some non original music content in their files.

I have expressed concern about this but they appear to be happy to go ahead with paying the licensing fees.

The site will not be going global and will only be used by a group of 6 friends.

If I was to press on and create the site, would I be liable for the content or the domain registrant and podcast producer ?

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you’re using any kind of web contract, you’d state that in your contract that you are not liable for products sold or used on this website. You’d throw a few words like ‘Indemnification’ around to make sure you cover your rear end.

I know on my web contract I dedicate a whole section to that.

You may not mean it to be Global - but anything on the Web is, by its very nature, Global.
