I used recovery software (Data Rescue 3) and have found a FW file with my missing site. The preview clearly shows the correct page of the site and it’s the right size (11MB). When I try to open it I get the could not open because end of file.
Obviously the file became corrupted and may explain why I could not find it originally and why the only version that works is from a month ago.
Outside of sending the file to Softpress for them to look at it, is there anything I can do? It seems like I should be able to recover at some portion of the file.
Just an update. Softpress was able to recover a good chunk of the file. Plus I recovered another older version that I could open. So, between the two, it won’t be too bad to rebuild the site. Thanks Softpress!
I am having reoccurring problems saving my site though. No error, it just locks up the program and I’m left with a second file with a strange filename that I can’t open.
All of these things have started post rebuilding my machine and upgrading toe Snow Leopard. Are there known issues with 5.4 and SL?
