[Pro] Counter

Hello,

I added the action for the counter. Placed in on the page and it was invisible, till I went into the browser. How do you set this action up and also command what # to start at?

If you are talking about the FreeCounter2 Action, it is always invisible – it’s designed that way. If you’re talking about Google Analytics, that’s also invisible. In either case, you do not ever show the current number of visits to the public – that’s not a very professional thing to do. You analyze your site traffic using the admin-only control panel, and since you know what number you started at from your previous traffic analysis solution, you can mentally add that to your new reports going forward.

Walter,

Thank You for your speedy response!

When I go and check it in the browser using FreeCounter 2, it is not invisible, but I see some html type in place.

Does that mean I made the box too big for the counter?

I didn’t upload it yet, want to make sure it is right.

The FreeCounter 2 can be administered at the site manually, however I do not see how.

You should not see anything if the counter is properly configured.

Does that mean I made the box too big for the counter?

No, it probably means that your site ID isn’t configured correctly. The server is working correctly at the moment, so any other errors would be difficult to explain.

I didn’t upload it yet, want to make sure it is right.

You create an account at FreeCounter2, and within that account, as many separate Site IDs as you need (one per domain name, basically). In Freeway, you apply the Action to each page you wish to track, and you enter (copy and paste) the Site ID into the Actions palette where indicated. Upload to your server, and you’re done. Each page needs to have a unique Title tag in order to use this service, but other than that, there’s really no other configuration possible/needed. All of the other controls on the server have to do with archiving your traffic reports or looking at browser statistics etc.

Only if you are programming your site in PHP and are creating page templates in that language. Probably not. It’s one of those features where you will know what to do with it if you need it.
