[Pro] Create recessed page with background image

I’ve swear I’ve found a tutorial or something in the past that explains what I’m after, but can’t find it now. I’m hoping someone can guide me toward what I want to do, which is:

Have a white-centered page that gives a recessed appearance against a background image in the browser. I’m trying to do this in Photoshop Elements and can make everything work perfectly – until I try to add some depth by using either a bevel or drop shadow to make the white page area “pop.”

I’ve set my document width in FWPro 5 to 960. In my photoshop file, the tile document is about 1800 px wide and 240 px deep, with a white shape on it set to 960. Again, that seems to work fine, until I try the recessed look by applying drop shadows or bevels at various settings to the shape layer.

Anyone out there who can give me tips on what I need to do differently, or point me to a tutorial somewhere?

Many, many thanks.

Hi Laura

The replies to your questions seem to be showing up as separate threads, so forgive me if I repeat someone else.

There’s a tutorial called Frame a Page on the Softpress page.

Could that be what you’re after?

I saw that one, and it wasn’t exactly what I was after. But through a lot of trial and error – basically the bulk of the day – I think I’ve got what I want. It’s not perfect, but gives me enough to move on. (No links to post yet, or I’d show you.)

But thank you. You’re very kind to respond.
