[Pro] CSS Menu Action "extensions"

I tried fiddling around with an HTML file written by FW5, to see if I could add a “strong” function to hover text in a CSS Menu. It worked. Huh.

Then I came here and looked through past posts about CSS Menu, to see if I could find a way to do that in FW itself. (Knowing full well I don’t want to do it by hand to actual files. My test was just that, a test. Kind of “proof of concept,” if you know what I mean.)

Lo and behold, a lot of folks are trying to extend the CSS Menu Action in various ways. Some of them I understand, some not so well. All of them looked useful!

So I wondered if anyone has tried to collate all the posts in some way: to write instructions on how to (successfully – it seemed maybe a few of the threads were not fully resolved) add functions to the Action. If it hasn’t been done, is that something I could ask tech support to do?

I don’t think anyone has done that. It wouldn’t be too difficult, but it would almost be a constantly changing thing since Softpress has been updating it within the past two versions that were released.

As of right now to further change any link styles you’ll have to use the links area in the Inspector palette to add things such as ‘bold.’. Hopefully in the future they could combine this into one single area and alleviate the need for two steps.

Thanks, Dan. I assumed collating the workarounds would be a labor of love and a thankless task.

I’ve tried to use the Links function in the Inspector Palette, and think it can only be applied to the menu item, not to text inside it. Using that route, the “bold” button only works on the Main menu text, not on the Submenu text.

Selecting the submenu text itself removes the Links function from the Palette. I did see a workaround to use the Styles Editor to create styles for applying to the styles FW is creating to make the menu. That was a bit beyond me, but I’ll try to find that thread again and puzzle it out.
