[Pro] Dave, I got the send form to work

Hi Delta Dave: I finally got the “send form” action to work on the “Flowers” template I was using…this needs to be “debugged”! The action was applied to the page but not the box that included the form. As soon as I did that, voila, it worked! AND I got the “missing” files under control. It’s all working now, just some tweaking needed. Thanks for all your help! www.foxrunstudios.com

Personally I dont use either the PHP Feedback Form or the SendForm action as a Page Action and always apply it to a table structure that I use to hold my forms together.

If you have other items on your FW page (like search Fields - which are essentially forms) then you can get problems/conflicts.

As to your Missing Files - had you moved some of the original resources?

I must have, although they were in the “resources” file all along. GUess I should send the “send form” issue to Softpress so they can fix their template. Thanks again for your help.

If you mean the FW created Resources file - these images/files are created by FW when you Publish or Preview a page.

If the originals are not there to be used as the basis of the files output into the Resources folder then FW will use the preview that you see in the FW doc to create them. So the answer is that there will always be ‘something’ in the Resources folder but it may not be the proper quality unless the original is available and FW knows where to find it.

When you Edit>Resources you are editing the location of the originals and not the FW generated files that end up in the Resources folder.

I know it is confusing.

A basic rule of thumb is to place your originals (or a copy of them) into the folder that FW creates for you called Media. Only import from there and you cannot go wrong.

You can create subfolders in the Media folder if you like - I may have Images, PDFs, Text Docs etc.

What you should always avoid is going into the FW created Resources folder and fiddling about in there. FW manages that Folder and creates its contents - if you mess with it you will have problems. Also never reference/import a file from within that folder. It may not be there the next time you publish/preview a page.

Do not add anything into the Resources folder and expect FW to upload it to your server for you - that isn’t going to happen. FW will ignore any files that it hasn’t put in there itself.

There are actions if you want to get FW to upload external files for you.
