[Pro] Direct Video Content

I need to be able to click on a link and have the corresponding video play in the player on the same page.

With multiple videos and links… on the same page…

Sounds easy when I type this out…

Thanks!

What format do you want it to play in?

I currently have .mov and MP4’s. But I can adjust to anything that works
best.

640x 480 size…

Thanks!

Try ScriptyLightbox2 - available from Actions Forge

Example here ScriptyLightbox2

I will play with that later on today. Thanks!

BTW - Is there an ‘Action’ out there for encrypting url addresses? Or
member only content areas?

Appreciate it!

Darlene

If you want a ‘secure’ area that only people with the correct username and password can access then this is best enabled server-side.

In a standard hosting Cpanel there is an area called Password Protect Directories where you can create and or protect a folder on the server and assign username/password combinations to it.

On my server it looks like this http://www.deltadzine.net/cpanel.html

Any files you then upload into that folder will require the visitor to have a correct username etc.

Great help as always.

This is an interim site while the ‘BIG’ one gets finished and it will then
happen through the server.

I’ll work on the folder as you’ve outlined for the temporary site.

And yet again… Thank you.

I am fine tuning and as I correct things the testers are finding, I am
uploading. The site has several videos and it is very time consuming to
upload.

The video files do not change… is there a way to upload without it
re-pulling the video files every time?

Besides just removing them until the end?

Thanks
Darlene

Have lost the sound in my videos (not all of them just a couple). Have
checked the original files and they are fine; have tried putting it in
another site and linking to it… no sound there either. Have manually put
them in the FTP to be sure nothing was lost in the upload (although every
time I upload it re-loads them… my issue in previous email)

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

A link to your site/files would help.

Also exactly how large are these videos?

Test site is www.candonetworks.net

Video’s reside on home page and

www.candonetworks.net/ntrhademo.html
www.candonetworks.net/sbundemo.html
www.candonetworks.net/wedemo.html

They are 3mb to 36mb.

By changing from the FLV action to using the html import (QuickTime) they
seem to be working. However taking a long time to load (duh, size of the
files). Have run them through HandBrake… Must be missing something.
Another area not within my knowledge base…

Thanks,
Darlene

Some of my pages are loading in separate windows… I have _self chosen in
the hyperlinks panel… what am I missing?

Thanks!

Rather than _self - leave it blank.

However taking a long time to load (duh, size of the files).

Certainly you want to keep these file sizes down. How were they created.

QT Pro has the option to save the file with fast web start.

Ahhhhh - I see says the blind woman.

In answer to my other question/your response:
“Certainly you want to keep these file sizes down. How were they
created.QT Pro has the option to save the file with fast web start.”

The videos come in from each channel provider, so they come in all kinds
of ways. This usually goes through our ‘video’ person not me, but they are
gone for several weeks on emergency. Soooo, I was told put them through
HandBrake, save as .mov or Mp4 and upload them… I’m sure something has
been left out of the translation.

Thank you Dr. Dave,
Darlene

What version of Handbrake are you using? 094 is the most recent I think.

There are many options such as Web optimized, Target size (Mb), 2 pass encoding etc.

A bit of tweaking should get your file sizes down. And the ‘video’ person can always optimise them when they get back!

Dave, you mentioned using ScriptyLightbox 2 for linking my thumbnail or
text to a video player on the same page.

Is there some instruction for that somewhere? Or do you have a quick
rundown?

Thanks!
