I’ve read somewhere that i can avoid “double content” (out of Googles point of view) by adding this code in the head of the website:
I’ve tried all options in the markup dialogue, before, after and so on, but no success. i’ve expected a redirect to www.abc.com even if i write the domain without “www”. How can this be solved? Sorry, but I’m a dumb non-programmer so please keep your answers simple.
Hey Dave, thank you for the answer.
After reading about redirect per htaccess, I’m unsure. My webhoster works with several redirects from my main domain to other domains i have booked into my account. I can’t delete them because about 20 Websites aren’t accessible in this case but that’s what I have to do before submitting a htaccess file to the hoster. (Thats what i’ve read)
Is there no chance to solve that issue using the canonical link with Freeway?
To figure this out, i have to know whats the correct syntax for the markup dialogue and where must i paste the link (before, before/, after and so on.)
Have i to write:
or simple:
or what is the syntax and correct placement in the markup section?
The correct place(s) to put this are either After or Before . I would personally go with the former, in case it matters for any of your relatively-linked resources. This seems kind of like a tag, which needs to go very early in the source order to keep everything else working properly.

Google sees the Website I’ve made as “doublet content” because you can reach the Website with a “www” in the url and without the “www”.
They suggest to implement the “canonical link” in the head of the site, but after doing so I can still call the website using the url without www and can’t see any redirection at all.
I expect (after setting up the link) a redirection to www.mydomain.com when I write the address without www, but the url without www is still be shown in the browser.
The Website I use for to analyze the seo of my project still insists that there is doublet content, too.
This doesn’t do redirects, all it does is tell the Google bot that you really meant this to go to your canonical URL. It absolutely will not redirect, but the effect should be the same.

Aaaah ok, thats all?
So I can leave it as it is, good news.
Now I ask myself why it’s always shown up as a fault in the diagnostic tool (on a free website) i use.
Maybe they’ve cached the former analyses i’ve made and are not serious?
Anyway, thanks for thinking about my stuff & good night,
So it looks like the issue is not where to put your link code, but how to
deal with the “duplicate content” problem.
Trying to educate myself on the issue, here’s a link that I found helpful
for anyone else who’s been following this thread -
I’m still wrapping my head around this - especially in the case of
www-prefixed versus non-prefixed URLs creating a confusing situation for
Google, whom I expect to be smarter than that. When it comes to how CMS or
data-driven sites that allow for more than one way to access that content
then maybe I could get it. But I am also so skeptical of SEO “blah, blah,
blah” that I am tempted to put this idea on a shelf or in a drawer and
ignore it.
