[Pro] e-mail to database

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to extract an email adress from a form and put it automaticly into a database.

If you look at the example page under contact you will see a form, if people choose the first checkbox “ik wens mij in te schrijven als exposant” then the email adress should be auto saved in a database.

Grtz.

Since you’re talking about e-mail specifically, I should mention MailChimp as a possible solution here.

There are fairly toothy laws in the US (and even more so in the more civilized parts of the world) that govern the collection of e-mail addresses. Particularly if you ever plan to send mail to those addresses.

MailChimp, Constant Contact, MyEmma, etc. have done their homework about those laws, present the proper types of opt-out and so forth, and spend all day every day trying to ensure that their lists are “clean” and deliverable. You can get a snippet of code from them that will generate a sign-up form, send the visitor an e-mail message to confirm the address, and manage a database of responders for you – for free.

If you want to learn how to do form handling, though, this can be a great exercise in learning PHP or another scripting language. I can certainly advise you down that road as well if you like.
