[Pro] Editing madness

I’m working on a site in v6.1.2 - but have had this happen many times before - arranging the page - moving text and/or graphics and the Browser Preview works just fine - however, when I upload - no changes take place.

I immediately think it’s the browser cache, but clearing it doesn’t help - so I open the site in several other browsers - no changes are seen. I open it on an iPad or MacBook Air - no changes. I re-upload and re-upload - no changes. Quit Freeway and restart it - re-upload - no changes.

Anyone have a clue what’s happening?

For instance - On this particular one at this moment I deleted the little square R Realtor logo at the page bottom, - but it won’t go away!

I can’t see a little R Realtor logo on the page and I can’t see one in the resources - which would take me back to the cache route.

Have you navigated away from the page, cleared cache and then gone back again (along with maybe restarting the Mac/Freeway)?

Hm - we had a similar discussion these days, where changes only displayed in Chrome but not in Safari - however remote people could recognize them (cross-browser).

I have definitely not any clue why this happens (however I recognized a pretty high and intense caching behavior on iBooks and Safari).

Did you make sure loading the correct files into the correct directories and calling the correct URLs?

Cheers

Thomas

Try this trick. Locate your Site folder (the place on your Mac where Freeway writes all of its files). You can find the path to this folder in the Document Setup dialog. When you find this folder (in the Mac OS Finder), open it, and delete all of its contents. (Really – this is okay.) Empty the trash. Then in Freeway, choose Publish and then Upload. You should get a completely new set of contents for your site, with all new modification dates, and everything should upload again. This will take a little while, depending on the content type of your site (any videos?) but once it is done, you should be able to see everything you expect.

I stepped away for 6 hours, came back and it’s cleared up. Strange

As mentioned - I tried this on multiple machines, in different browsers across those machines and something was just “stuck”.

Next time it pops up I’ll trash the Site Folder contents as per Walt - I’ll bet that would fix it too.

Thanks all!
