What version of Mac OS X are you on, and is this a document you were recently working on, or one that has been lying fallow for a while?

Walter,

I have been working on this document every day for a while. I am on Mountain Lion and have been since it was released.

Something else rather odd is that i have tried to create an Archive and that brings up a whole raft of errors caused by missing links to resources, when i try to relocate the missing image, which i find FW will not accept that the link has been updated.

Thanks

John

An update… i have a backup system, just in case my main work unit gives trouble, the Files on the backup were up-to date. Running FW on that system which is only at 10.7 showed that when i Edit resources all the links were perfectly OK, I could save etc with no problems. Resync’d that system with the main work system and now FW is behaving itself again…But rather troubling… not sure what i would have done without the backup system.

Thanks

John

Lion introduced this system where files could acquire a “lock” just by sitting around for a period of time without any changes. Is it possible that some of the files in your Resources folder (published by Freeway) were unchanged for a while, and then suddenly Freeway needed to change them? If it tried to update (remove and replace) a locked file, I wonder what the dialog would say.

System Preferences / Time Machine / Options – Lock documents [duration] after last edit. I have this preference unchecked, as it seems clearer to me that way.

Sorry for only picking up on this now, John.

The permissions error is due to an incompatibility between the way Freeway saves documents and Time Machine on 10.7+. We’ve found the problem and fixed it internally and hope to have a fix available soon. For a bit more information on the problem, take a look at this KnowledgeBase article:

Joe,

Thank you for your response, my concern is that i ran FW Pro with Lion and had no hint of an issue then, it has only appeared after running with Mountain Lion for about 7 - 10 days… was i just lucky not to see the problem under Lion? or is this a new issue?

thx

thanks. I have read the official post and managed to work around the problem. I hope the FW team find a permanent fix for it soon.

Hi John,

Its elusiveness is the main reason it’s taken so long to get fixed. I’m almost 100% certain it’s the same thing.

I had this problem on a few Freeway documents after upgrading to Mountain Lion. Repairing permissions fixed it. However I unplugged my Time Machine disk and haven’t backed up in a few days…doing that now…while Freeway is closed and not running.
