[Pro] ERROR: Link verification failed.

Hi all,

I have been using Freeway and Mals shopping cart successfully for quite some time.

Yesterday, I added one new page to my web site, I uploaded the change and thought all was well.

However, I have discovered to my cost that some of the buy buttons no longer work.

When I attempt to add a product to my shopping cart I get the message “ERROR: Link verification failed.”

Some products still work, even on 1 page there will be some that work and some don’t.

I have re-published everything, created a new output folder, resampled resources but still can’t correct the problem.

Any ideas ? I’m getting desperate.

Many thanks,

Neil

Removed the Validation tick box from Mals.

The cart now works but it’s lost all my page format settings.

Thats easy enough to fix, just find it odd that this has happened at all ???

Unrelated but there is an update for you to FW 5.4.3 that does fix some bugs and is recommended.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply. I am actually using 5.6.3 I had not updated my profile on here !

I am now experiencing another strange change, I’m about to post another thread as it’s not related to this (I don’t think).

Cheers,

Neil

Can you be a bit more specific.

What has changed about your page/site or is this a first time thing.

More information the better including a link to your online example.

I created a shop, when a user selects add to cart an error is displayed: ERROR: Link verification failed.

The store is:

http://reppwear.co.uk/repgymwear-store.html

I have also deselected in Mal’s settings the: all my links against the hash verification function.

My freeway pro is also up to date with 6.0.3 so what could this be?

Latest FW is 6.1.1 but this is unlikely to be your issue.

Try a new page with only 1 item on it and double/triple check that you have the Mals web address etc and user details correct

Hi Philip,
Some of the buy now links work and others do not which leads me to believe that there are illegal characters in the product descriptions. It looks like you’ve copied and pasted the descriptions into the Action palette as I can see ‘%0A’ in the link code which is an encoded carriage return. This is causing the hash validation checker on the Mals site to get upset and is rejecting the link by throwing the error.
Really the Action should clean the input to make sure these illegal characters don’t get through but for the moment if you clean out the product descriptions and make sure you don’t have any hidden characters in there you should be set.
Regards,
Tim.

Thank you very much for the help guys, I very much appreciate it.

Additionally, what’s the best way to add product variations? I.e. Different sizes which I have in stock for ordering.

Hi Philip,
Both the Softpress Freeway Shop Actions and my own Mals E-Commerse Suite Actions (http://d.pr/bWSN) support product variations with the latter supporting more variations. Looking at the code of your page it looks like you are using the Freeway Shop Actions. You can find the PDF manual for them here where you need to look up ‘E-Product Variation’;
