Pro file won't open in Express.

I’ve recently constructed a site for my father- using Freeway 5 Pro. My father’s downloaded Freeway 5 Express on trial. I provided him with the website’s Freeway document but it won’t open in Express.

Are files exclusive to the version in which they were created? Is there a way around this? Any insights/explanations appreciated.

Thanks.

Freeway Pro can open Express and Pro files. However, once Pro opens
and saves an Express file, that file is converted into Pro’s document
format and can never be opened by Express again. I believe a backup is
made in the process, so you can always open the original Express file
in Express. But any changes made in Pro will naturally not be there.

If your father is going to purchase Express, you might want to
download and use the 30-day demo to build the site, and then he can
take it from there with his purchased version. You will miss a few of
the Pro tricks, I’m sure, but the basics are exactly the same and you
should be able to get him going.

Freeway Pro can do quite a bit more than Freeway Express, including
things that simply have no equivalent in the cheaper app, hence why
the document is different.

I don’t know of any way around that I’m afraid. Perhaps your dad
should give Freeway Pro a try?

Or, alternatively, you could consider setting up the site using
WebYep so he can edit the content (images and text) within your
predefined layout, using nothing more than his web browser…
