Why is the first page on my website bigger than the others.
I used the Master pages to create the original tabs at the top but then the pages afterwards come up much smaller. All this shows up when published/uploaded.
They look the same to me in Firefox, Safari and Opera. That’s not saying they’re not different sizes, I just don’t notice it in any of the browsers I have.
One thing I did notice is the at the URL never changes when I go to different menu items. I guess that means you’re using framesets. You may have your reasons for this, but I’d suggest you consider breaking things out into separate pages.
I’m a beginner so please forgive any ignorance on my part. All I know is that when I run across sites like this it frustrates me because I can’t bookmark specific pages.
Your widths all appear to be 820px going by the black band under the tabs - which by current monitor standards is a touch on the small side. Is that what you thought was different on the different pages?
I am also wondering how to achieve this different name on every page.
I am using a parked space (or some other technical term) - the original is http://www.fstaylor.co.uk and that lets me use individual names for each page - but when it is transferred to Free Parking, then it all gets put under one name for every page.
Have a look at your site using NetRenderer - this will give you an idea how it looks to PC users using various flavours of IE Moved
You get what you pay for - you can get some very reasonable fully featured hosting from some of the guys that frequent this Forum to avoid this sort of thing.
Your site runs a lot better on the original host http://www.fstaylor.co.uk. It’s much smoother and the load times are much faster. And yes, there you go, individual pages. Much better.
You are absolutely right - it helps if you put ‘screen ruler’ at the start of what you want to measure. I was primarily comparing (my excuse and I’m sticking to it) and they were the same - though obviously not 820
