[Pro] First word in text block disappears

Can anyone tell me how to correct this ongoing issue?

Occasionally, I have a text block that when published, loses its first word. In fact, anything before the first space disappears.

This has happened since the first site I built with Freeway and support tells me it is a known issue. Is there a work-around to make it not happen

I can click the text block, the word show just fine, but as soon as I hit command p for publish, the word disappears.

Ideas?

Does the missing word carry over to the finished HTML page, or is it
missing only on the design view in Freeway? Try fiddling with the
padding of the enclosing HTML box and see if that changes anything in
the design view. Also, try enabling/disabling the height attribute on
that box and see if that changes anything. Is this box stand-alone, or
nested into another box as an inline?

Walter,

The word would disappear in the published page and in the layout.

It was a child item of a graphic that contained a jpeg as a background.

I had to finally end up trashing the item and drawing a layered html to get rid of the problem.

Hey, also…I have a link rollover color not working. Have an html box, sitting in front of this SAME graphic. The link works, but the color will not change…

The Master page link colors are set up…and I checked this page…its link colors are reflective of what was set up on the Master…and still they will not hover a color

Other links on the page that are not sitting on this graphic jpeg will work, so I know I have my style settings correct; it’s just that the links that touch this graphic will not show a link setting from the Master. I even tried changing the link styles for that specific html container and it still will not show a hover color.

Thanks for the help.

Could you post a link? It’s sounding more random by the moment.

Here is the link:

The link that will not rollover is at the bottom

here is hope for men and women

The other links on the page will rollover, but this one will not.
Thanks, Walter

Highlight the text inside that link, then click on the (T) tab in the
Inspector to see the cascade of styles applied to it. You’ll see that
the copy14white style has been applied directly to your link text. Any
time you create link styles the correct (inherited from the page or
the container object) way, you cannot apply any local styling to the
text, or else the styles won’t apply correctly.

(To better understand this, imagine listening to a symphony, then
imagine listening to that symphony while holding a crying infant. You
are the link. The crying infant is the local styling you’ve applied to
the link text. The symphony is the link styles you created on the page
or in the HTML element that contains the link. If you can’t hear the
symphony clearly, you can’t respond appropriately.)

To remove that local style, select the text within it, hover over the
copy14white element in the Inspector’s “Style Cascade” view, and click
the little (x) that appears to the right of its name.

This should allow the link styles to carry on unimpeded.

Walter,

Thank you, so much. That enabled the font color to work properly.

However, the font is now not the verdana that I want it to be. How do I style the text in verdana (while using a style) and then get the rollover to work as well ??

I thought that the style (including font) should be applied to the text and that the link style (color only) would kick in and colorize the links properly.

Is it possible to get the font I want and the color/rollover effect I want ??

Thanks,

Rich

It is, as long as you apply the style to the entire paragraph, rather
than to a section of the paragraph. Try quadruple-clicking to select
the entire line, including the invisible carriage return at the end of
the line, and then apply the style. If that allows the rollover to
work, then you’re set. Another trick would be to apply the style
directly to the HTML box that holds the link text. That way it gets
applied at the DIV level, and any unstyled text inside that box will
inherit the color and font settings.

Is this done by clicking on the container, and then choosing the style from the palette while it is clicked ??

Yes. It should work, as long as you haven’t put anything in the tag
field when editing or creating that style.
