[Pro] Flash help

I love Freeway. I just wish it were more Flash friendly. It’s so hard to work with, even when using the Upload Extra Resources action. I have a lot of Flash files that reference XML files in other directories, as well as media files in other directories. I find myself spending countless hours rewriting actionscript by hand, just so that the Flash files are compatible with Freeway. Isn’t there a better way? I don’t dare start designing in DreamWeaver. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

A lot of pre-rolled Flash require certain folder structures on the server so you could either create the same folder structure in your Freeway file and then use the Upload Extra Resources Action on pages within those folders, or use an FTP application to create the folders and upload the extra files manually. Surely both of these options are easier than messing around with ActionScript!

Hi TB,
You may have to use small words and a few example pictures with me as
I’ve not used actionscript for a while. Is it possible to use
something like a base tag in your actionscript so the paths in the xml
are defined from that base point? If so it wouldn’t be impossible to
create a simple action that sets this base url with the Freeway HTML
page location.
Can you show us an example of the sort of issues you are having with
the file paths?

As Joe suggested you may be best uploading the files using an FTP app
or simply by recreating the folder structure in Freeway until someone
can figure out how to upload whole folders (and all of it’s children)
via an action.
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks, guys. It’s not just this project, but really any time that I am using Flash in Freeway that references XML files. The Uplload Extras action is really only good for a few individual files- I reallly would love to seeit incorporate the ability to upload entire folders. Having to duplicate file structures from within Freeway also seems a littlle backwards to me. In my humble opinion, Freeway should provide much better support for such apopular and prevelant web format. Thanks again for your ideas and suggestions.
