Also if you include your email address in a post or on your People page then they will find you.

If posting it then use the format me (at) me.com - or it will be obfuscated by the Web forum software.

Marcel, what web-link below?

Dave, don you mean describe a project and post it or what. I need an expert in Freway 5 Pro who can implement all kinds of fancy stuff. I am designing the site and it has been approved and I can make basic ‘very nice’ sites in Freeway, but this one uses a little fancier stuff I am not comfortable with.

Not ‘don’!!! I meant ‘do’

Also, Delta Dave, Where’s the delta in Glasgow? I’m a good bit Scottish and Irish. But, uh, do Scottish and Irish get along?

Julio, I have no interest in coding it. I want to hire a Freeway expert to work directly with code the site as it develops over a number of months.

Freeway generates the codes but if you want more complex actions the
codes must be created, give us an example of one action you want to
create.
Base on that someone will know where you are heading, codes are pure
pain.

The whole point of Freeway is that it generates the “codes” for you,
and all you do is decide what you want the thing to look like. Where
you inevitably run into issues you can’t solve without delving into
the Morlockian depths is things like forms or server-side application
programming. If your site is a visual creation, you likely won’t run
into any of those issues.

If you have a Web server somewhere under your control, post the site
or page there, and send us a link to it. There are no attachments
allowed on this mailing list.

I guess because of the nature of Freeway, I shouldn’t call it coding. But I still would like to find someone in the Bay Area who knows Freeway 5 Pro very well and is interested in some freelance work.

Why is it so hard to find Freeway 5 pro freelance help?

Define hard. Actually, define freelance. If you’re looking for someone
to come into your office and work there, then you are probably going
to have a problem. But if you want a particular project created/
updated, there are thousands and thousands of people around the world
with the skills to do it, just an e-mail and Dropbox away.

Freeway is used by a lot of professional designers to create their own
work, for their own clients. I would hazard a guess that many of them
are busy enough with their own work that they don’t have time to take
on overflow work for another designer. Another core audience for
Freeway are persons who need a sophisticated Web site for their actual
business, but don’t want to hire a professional to do that for them.

I have taken on projects for other designers on this list and
elsewhere in the past, but usually I get called in when the project is
so far out of the mainstream of “make it look like this” that it could
be mistaken for application programming. My specialist skill set is in
JavaScript, Ruby (and Rails), PHP and MySQL. And while I could
certainly get Freeway to generate any sort of static HTML layout you
can imagine, that’s probably going to be quite costly for you compared
with any other Freeway professional – simply because I charge the
same amount per hour to program an interactive banking application as
I do to make a static “brochure-ware” site.

It isn’t. And you’re in the right place for it! But, as the philosopher John Dewey observed, "A problem well put is half-solved.

Thing is, Freeway excels at making the right code from your own visual ideas. If you just want someone to make you a site from scratch, then there are many places you could ask. But here, because it’s Freeway, most people will be making their own, as that’s what Freeway encourages you to do. If all you want is a site, with no input from you, then it could be made in any application, and you’ll probably get more help of that kind from a web design freelancer’s list. Dreamweaver springs to mind.
On the other hand, if you want to take the time to explain just what it is you want, there’s a lot more fun to be had, and money saved, in doing it yourself, in Freeway, with the help of the excellent people here.

best wishes,

Paul Bradforth

As you can see, I posted a link above with some site pages that can be used to explain why I am asking for help. If you download the pages we can talk.

These images don’t actually ask any questions. What are you trying to
do in Freeway, what do you expect to happen, and what do you get
instead? Nothing on these pages appears to be terribly hard to create
in Freeway. Think of it as a Desktop Publishing application that
generates HTML, and you’ll get along famously.

Walter,

I have used freeway for many sites just fine and completely get what it is about. Of course the images don’t ask questions.

OK, for example, on the wheel, I want the type and images to appear for each symbol when the mouse is over it, and then be able to click straight through to the corresponding page. All fast and clean.

Maybe that is easy in Freeway, but I’ve never needed to do it so I don’t know how.

But more importantly, I am creative directing the project and don’t need to be in the trenches implementing the site. All I’m looking for is someone very good a t freeway to create the site to behave as I want. I’m not going to do it myself, so if I can’t find a freeway person to do it, I will go back into the Dreamweaver cave. I am just hoping to avoid that.

I understand exactly how Freeway is different. I just want a freelance helper!
