This problem started Jan 8th, prior to that, things worked as usual.
I am in Australia temporarily & run a Californian school’s website.
The upload which usually takes maybe 30secs is taking 30mins, or it times out.
My Tech Dept at school & GoDaddy which hosts the site are telling me it’s Telstra. Telstra is telling me they don’t see a problem.
I am at my wit’s end!
I am pretty sure it’s not Freeway but as I am getting nowhere with anyone else, I’m looking for any ideas on what I can do to see if it’s something I inadvertently did to cause this issue.
Please help me - I am not close to being a Freeway expert, (I know what I need to know to do what I do & that’s about it). It’s not enough to figure out what the problem is or how to fix it.
A side issue - if you look at the Latest News & Events - I cannot get the text back to Plain. Everything I post is Bold, even though it shows Plain when I click the style.
You have a Strong Tag on most of the text in that container.
Select all the text and use Style>Remove styling to get you back to unstyled text and start again.
Cant help with the upload issue beyond suggesting that you Toggle between the different FTP modes ie Automatic, Passive and Non-passive to see if one works better for you.
You will find the settings in File>Document Setup under the Upload tab.
Thanx for the Style tip David! I can see that has rectified the problem! YAY! One quandary solved!
However….
I have tried all 3 FTP modes & Passive is the only one allowing me to upload but, what usually takes 30secs or less is taking me 20mins+.
Is there a setting I maybe have inadvertently changed to make this happen or is this a Telstra issue with Freeway?
I have uploaded pics to FB & it has not been a problem.
Did you try to copy the site and upload first a few elements to see if slow upload is related to the page elements? If it goes well, than add a few more elements and upload again and so on. In that way you can probably eliminate the cause of the issue.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated! http://www.oceaa.org/home.html
Have not tried Cyberduck with Freeway - I didn’t know I could use anything besides Freeway to upload. I appreciate the suggestion but I am not confident enough to try that without a Freeway knowledgeable person with me as I would not know what to do if something (else) went wrong.
Not sure how to upload a few elements at a time, my understanding is Freeway uploads the whole site every time changes are made.
If I can only upload the pages with changes, that would be great - how do I do that? Is there a website with instructions I can follow? I don’t want to take up everyone’s time teaching me things that are available online.
Freeway uploads only the pages and their assets that have changed since the last time you uploaded successfully. It makes a database of the current state of the site at the end of each upload, and saves it in the Site Folder on your Mac. The next time you upload, it compares that database with the current state of the Site Folder (again, on your Mac) and figures out what’s newer. Then it only sends up those files that it calculates need to be sent.

Ok, thanks, good to know. I am learning a lot here but still have an Uploading issue that Telstra is telling me is not them (ergo it’s me).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what Freeway issues might be causing this problem?
I have done speedtest.net for Sydney & Houston TX (where GoDaddy sever is located) & Sydney is ok, Houston, you guessed it…we have a problem!
Here are the latest stats in case anyone can figure this problem out…
SYD: PING 31, Download 19.36Mbps, Upload 2.69Mbps
HOU: PING 272, Download 4.67Mbps, Upload 1.53Mbps
Telstra said it’s not a problem unless it’s under 1.0Mbps
It has been under 1.0 but not consistently so they think it’s my Mac or the program & not their speed.
I cannot tell you how frustrating this is - it’s been going on for 2weeks now!
Your real comparison is a fresh upload with FW vs Cyberduck or similar.
Create a new Folder on the server and use a new FW doc to create a test page/site to upload into that folder. 1 page with some images and maybe an mp3 on it should be enough.
Test upload.
Create another folder on the server (different name) and use Cyberduck or similar to upload the same FW site into the other folder.
They STILL cannot tell me what the problem was (something with the Wifi unit) but they finally admitted it was them & not everyone else they were suggesting (me, my computer, Freeway, GoDaddy & anyone else they could think of). I just wish it had not taken them 3 weeks to come to that conclusion!
This sounds fairly familiar, particularly with ISPs. My dad worked for
telecoms, and built networks for ISPs in his “retirement”… the secrets he
would spill about either career and how the technological sausage was made
could cause revolt on a planetary scale.
There are websites out there which track customer reports about network
uptime and quality… customer service may not change their denial tune, but
it helps when they act like you’re the only person having problems and you
can tell them about all their other customers who are experiencing the same
issues.
