[Pro] FW7: CSS Menu refinement options

Any way through using the extended HTML item dialog box or page markup to 1) Create translucent backgrounds for drop down menu items and 2) Make type in the drop downs smaller or a different type weight than main menu items?

  1. Create translucent backgrounds

Not at my Mac just now but I think that you can use a transparent image as your background.

  1. Make type in the drop downs smaller or a different type weight than main menu items

Certainly you can do this with CSS - show us an online example indicating what you want to be different and someone can supply the CSS.

David:
Many thanks for the translucent background suggestion. FYI it works for the drop downs in the wide views, but the opacity is lost in how FW treats the items in the hamburger view.

Concerning drop downs, am still playing with details, but the general idea was to reduce the type height of the sub menu items by a few pixels.

Is it the opacity of the menu items background you want to change or the menu background opacity (as a whole) like at http://www.deltadesign.co/FW7Test/index.html (hamburger view)?

That example also uses a media query to alter the text size of the menu text at the 320px breakpoint

David,

The transparent menu is a nice feature that I hadn’t thought about, and if I decide to use it I now know where to look to learn the code.

What I was asking about in this post is being able to size sub menus slightly smaller than main menu items, especially in the view for larger formats, but it would be fine and perhaps better if it carried through to the hamburger view.

FYI the CSS Menu Action has been acting up for me in another way. I have just added a post to the topic “FW7: how to change the css menu font style?” in which you proposed using page markup and SP proposed using Freeway styles. Have been trying to get the SP way to work, but the CSS Menu Item doesn’t update when the style is updated. More details in my post in that topic thread.
