Thomas, I see your 6 pics placed atop a similarly colored background. Taking an in-browser screenshot and pasting that into Photoshop, I see your background is RGB = 240, 240, 242, and your 6 PNG files are RGB = 241, 241, 243.
Opening your test page in FireFox and taking a screenshot and testing in Photoshop shows everything to be 240, 240, 242.
Ernie, when you say “untagged” I assume you mean “no embedded profile.” But like I said before in this thread, it doesn’t matter if you have an embedded profile or not inside your pass-thru pics – Safari changes the colors very slightly, while Chrome and FireFox (on OS X) do not change colors at all.
I agree that transparent PNGs are the solution, but only in cases where either size doesn’t matter or where you don’t need a 24-bit (millions of colors) PNG.
