[Pro] FWP Document Cleanup?

When developing a website I frequently create styles and images that I don’t use in the final design. For instance , I may initially decide on using a png, but later switch to a jpg to save space.

Is there any way to easily determine which items aren’t being used so I can delete these extraneous styles and/or images?

If you are letting Freeway manage the files in your site, then the decision on output format will be set in the Freeway document itself, and there won’t be any extra files anywhere. Each time you publish, Freeway deletes all changed files and replaces them. If you leave the Site Folder open in Finder behind your Freeway window, you can see this process happening. Put the Finder window in Column view, and click on the Resources folder. Watch the list of files shrink and grow as the publish process works.

Thanks Walter. I don’t think I worded my question properly. I know that FWP keeps track of all my resource files and adjusts them as needed.

My problem has more to do with my organization skills, or lack thereof. Whenever I begin a new website I immediately create the following folder:

Audio
Backgrounds
Carousel
Fonts
Icons
Illustrator*
Images
Logos*
PDFs
Photoshop*
Showcase
Videos

It’s how I try to stay organized. The folders with the asterisks are where I keep master AI and PSD files. Most of the images created go into the Images folder. Within the Images folder I have several subfolders to help keep things organized. Depending on the website, some of the folders will change. Here’s an example:

Headers
Icons
Properties

At first, I thought this was a sound methodology, but I’m finding that my attempt to stay organized is causing confusion and disorganization. For example, if I open up Edit Resources in FWP, it’ll show me all of the original files used in my FWP document, but it won’t show me the specific file’s location, which could be buried in a subfolder somewhere. Some of this is unavoidable, such as Showcase and Exhibeo files, which I still think should be kept separate.

However, everything else is just a mishmash. I’m wondering if a better solution is to simply include a descriptor before the filename to help identify what type of graphic it is. For example, instead of having all of my header images in the Images>Header folder, perhaps I should simply name the files as follows:

HEADER-clouds.png
HEADER-grass.png
HEADER-trees.png
ICON-csr.png
ICON-map.png
ICON-photos

Perhaps I’m over thinking this. What are your thoughts? How do you organize your original and master files?

Perhaps I’m over thinking this.

This smacks of OCD to me. I might have some subfolders in my Media folder but not to this extent.
