[Pro] GoDaddy hosting and SSI

Does anyone know if a GoDaddy hosted site supports Server Side Includes?

I’m helping someone who is hosted there but cannot upload my test file. Before I give up and build menus and footers for every single page, I thought I would ask around first.

PS, I know the GD help forums make it seem they do support it, but that it is a problem for many.

Does the htaccess file contain:

Options +Includes

I have no idea - that’s just too advanced a thing to ask at this point. My
own .htaccess file doesn’t say that and yet I can get ssi to work just fine
on my host.

Well, according to this article it’s not necessary to add anything to the htaccess file but you may still need to look at it so you can be sure it’s ok then you can cross it off the list as a possible problem.

I’m working in the dark Todd - my solution was to upload a test file to a
subdirectory on his server, but that is too advanced for the guy I’m
helping.

That does hamper things a bit.

I don’t know what else might cause the problem, unless there’s something hinky with the syntax you’re using to call the include (doubtful). Other than that the other potential problem areas I’ve found require looking at remote files. Can he give you ftp access?

I’ve asked. As far as I know it will work, but if it doesn’t I will need to
build a bunch of menus and footers that are exactly the same, then expect
him to maintain that when I think it will be easier to show him a edit once
method that fixes everything. Thanks for the input on this
