[Pro] Good view on iPhone?

My website holds up nicely as is on computer screens and iPads, but doesn’t do so hot on iPhones. In reading the knowledge base article on the “mobile redirect action,” am I correct in understanding that to use this I essentially have to duplicate existing pages for the mobile action to redirect cellphone users to? I’m confused. Never worked with this.

Here’s the knowledge based article: Mobile Redirect Action - Freeway - Softpress Talk

You have to create a new website that is mobile optimized.

You would be duplicating your regular site’s content, but the layout would be suited for a mobile device.

So two websites? And then if something changes on one website, say a photo for the regular site, that change has to be made on the mobile site as well?? Sounds like an awful lot of work.

It is a lot of work. The real answer is to create a responsive website.

Meaning inline layout, correct?

Yes inline, but even a little more involved than that. This list is replete with discussions about responsive design as of late.

Flexible-width inline layout is a big leap in the right direction, but you will still need to write CSS to make the “responsiveness” work.

Yes, it has been! There is a lot on info on this monolith of a thread. Also, this one, and that one, and don’t forget the other one.

If you want to learn how to build a responsive website, check out these tutorials by Thomas Kimmich. Alternately, if you don’t want to learn CSS, you can also check out the responsive template I built.

Phew.

It’s amazing how far we’ve come as a community in the past few month on this subject!
