I had to redo a map on a clients website recently after it went dead. I did manage it, though granted it took a bit of head scratching figuring what google meant but I got there. Another time I had to create a iframe where I wished the map to be but had to create the map on a separate page using the FW map action, it worked, can’t figure the rational but it worked.
I think whatever Google has done has broken the Freeway Pro action to enable this. I hope that when softpress updates Freeway Pro they add other mapping options, like MapQuest, Bing, etc.
Joe Billings, who wrote the Action (and is the Managing DIrector of Softpress) replied in another thread that he’s aware of the problem and working on a solution. He’s much better at Action writing than I am, so I am certain that what we will end up with is something that completely abstracts away the problem.
As a stop-gap, Tim Plumb wrote a static map Action, which just writes out a clever URL to a picture, and doesn’t need an API key at all. The limitation of that is that the resulting map is not navigable, no drive-by-turn directions or whatnot. But it will show a pin on the map where your location is, and you can then link that image to the Google Map for further dynamic amazingness.

Are the developers of Freeway Pro aware of this? any news on when an upgrade will happen?
No, that was the one was giving so much hard time read my earlier post. I don’t need the API key any longer.
It was easy for me because i build my mobile websites in a photoshop image and creating the link was a easy.
Now, my next issue will be how to design mobile website for retina display, meaning a smart approach to converting the image for retina display. Just in case any doing it please post.
