[Pro] Google maps API

A client has asked I recreate this Adopt an acre concept for their website, see here…

Its using the Google maps API you can click on one of the squares until you get the option to ‘adopt an acre’… then note how the co-ordinates are fed into the shopping cart very nice…

so - is this difficult for someone to do with limited coding skills, API stuff (I presume so)…

Does anyone out there have experience with the Map API/e-commerce integration stuff want a job?

Let me know

Thanks

J

Wow. That’s a lot of JavaScript. (I viewed source.). Are you re-doing this particular site – for Adopt an Acre – or are you building a competitor? If the former, is this script encumbered in some way that you can’t use it, or are you planning to use it and need some help adapting the Drupal-specific code to Freeway?

Hi - Its for the everglades website I did last year they want to adopt a similar app - http://www.evergladesassociation.org/

Lots of parks are doing it ‘its all the rage’ apparently

So basically taking the idea and applying to the EA website or micro site… I will probably bring in a 3rd party - so whatever the developer needs to to to make it so, within my Freeway page

I don’t see any way to hook in to what the Nature Conservancy is doing here – they don’t offer a public API or embed code to put this widget on your site. If you intend to duplicate the look and feel of the Nature Conservancy site, that’s going to be a tall order. How deep are the pockets at your client? How willing are they to re-invent the wheel?

Not the look and feel - just the functionality - i.e. does not have to be done that way at all, as long as they can ‘adopt an acre’ of their parks, that’s all they want (with a map to zoom into, icons to click to choose area, purchase etc etc)…

They want to know how much this would cost?

Some one did it for that website right? Maybe I can find out who did it and contact them…
