[Pro] Google question

Hi all

Since I can’t place a screen dump (I think) I will try to describe my problem. When I google on “drukkerij Sittard” I get a list of possible matches. The site shows on top of the list right under the advertisements with is fine.

Under the site description you see, in blue, “Contact” and other words. They link to pages within the site.

At the moment there are some unimportant pages listed and the important not.

Is there a way I can influence the listing of blue words (pages)?

Honestly not very smart in this, but I think these are deep-links (coming from the Nav-items) and is an automatic algorithm by google - which will mean google assumes those are important for your clients.

They can be influenced (I guess) in the webmaster tool by “devalue” them.

Another point:

If you use keywords (which doesn’t matter anymore), make sure to use max 70 chars (which are probably 5 or 6). For description it’s btw 156 chars.

Try to start to be more semantic. Each page should have one H1 and several H2 or H3 Tags to structure “text-based” content. I spent some words about it on:

(series not ready yet).

Cheers

I believe that these are “sitelinks” that Google has chosen to list as (probably) important pages on your website. These are a good thing to have.

Try this: go to Google Webmaster Tools > Search Appearance > Sitelinks. Then use the box entitled “Demote This Sitelink URL” to list the link or links that you do NOT want to appear as sitelinks in Google’s search results.

Hypothetically, after you do this, Google will try to replace them with other links that are hopefully more relevant. Unfortunately, that choice is entirely Google’s. You cannot tell them which sitelinks you want, only those you don’t want.

I know virtually nothing about this, and the following is probably completely wrong, but are you using Google Site Mapper action in FW? I only mention it since you can select a frequency with which Google indexes your site pages, along with the ability to tell Google to remove certain pages from the sitemap completely.

I’ve found this useful in the past, but the above solution is probably far more accurate and I’m talking out my ar…

I suspect (but naturally no one can prove) that this button isn’t actually doing anything. It’s like that Close Door button in the elevator (lift)…
