[Pro] Guidance Building a database driven shopping cart

Dear Sirs,

I am looking to develop an online shopping cart website and I am looking for online tutorials or any training resources for implementing either a filemaker database or osCommerce application into freeway. I have used Mal’s E in the past but I think I require something that will also provide an integrated CMS solution. My hosting company supports MSQL and php 5. I really need a 101 basic introduction with a nuts and bolts description on the best way to go about integrating a database and setting up a catalog page layout in freeway pro 5 that will function as an online cart.

Any assistance or guidance you could offer would be greatly appreciated

I’ve tended to recommend OptionCart in the past (http://www.optioncart.com
) as it’s a fully blown content management system that links into Mals
for purchases. You can add your products, categories, descriptions,
etc and OptionCart will handle the site links and structure for you.
OptionCart has undergone a number of changes in the last few years in
the way they sell their software but you can still get it from here;
Purchase OptionCart Deluxe or SiteBuilder eCommerce Software | Smartlab Software

Once installed you would need to customize the templates to match your
site and then simply start adding content.
Regards,
Tim.

Tim,

Thanks for the info. I am reviewing the Option Cart application online now. Is there a trial version to test before buying. I ran the demo. Seems Simple. Are there any tutorials available on how to set it up in freeway or configure it with mals?

Thanks for your response.

Have a look through the Option Cart site (http://www.optioncart.com)
for details on updating the supplied templates to look like the rest
of your site. You’ll almost certainly need to do this manually and may
require you to edit some of the code by hand. Depending on how unique
your page design is it could be quite simple to alter one of the
existing templates.
Linking into your existing Freeway site will just be case of manually
linking between the Option Cart site and your Freeway pages.
Regards,
Tim.
